The tower project stirred an angry outcry when news of its approval broke. The government later clarified that the Bangkok Observation Tower Foundation will finance the construction cost, estimated at 4.42 billion baht with loans from financial institutions and donations from private companies. Despite the explanations, the observation tower project still leaves a bitter taste in many people's mouths.
